Whoa.
So. I was scheduled to work 7-3 today. Had a *really* hard time waking up, too? Drank 2 cups of coffee and a Dr. Pepper, and they so did not help. Felt like a zombie, right? Then came the kicker. My part-time desk clerk was on the schedule from 3-11. She quit at noon. Instead of screwing up the schedule by calling C in to work on his day off, I decided to pull a double. Problem with that? I still felt like the walking dead. I called Aric, asked him to bring me some food, and he shows up an hour later with a salad, some chicken, and this . . . thing. A SoBe energy drink. Orange flavored. I drank that thing at 6 pm and still feel like a bunny on a sugar high.

. . .

That was my first energy drink ever. Is this normal? 'Cause I cannot say I'm enjoying this.

I'd say it's not normal but then everyone's got a slightly different chemical make up so maybe one of the energising componants to it is affecting you more because of it.

*hugs*

How's you otherwise?

Yeah, well, I'm never drinking one again. About midnight last night I finally began to calm down. It was . . . really freaky.

I'm all right. Up and down, mood-wise, but all right.

How 'bout you? Doing okay?

Oh, energy drinks. We sell almost more of them than we do beer at my store. And as rileysaplank says, they react differently with different people. I can't use them because they make my heart race, but I have customers who buy 2 and 3 of them each day. A good pick-me-up that usually doesn't cause that hyper feeling is ginseng.

I didn't like my experience with them. Never again.

How are you?

I'm doing okay; just very, very tired from working so many hours (i'll probably have over 60 this week) But we've hored some new people so maybe I can get a break soon.

Ugh! I can't believe that idiot of a desk clerk just quit like that! What a cow!

Sorry about the SoBe buzz...

Turn-over is very high in the hospitality industry. The pay sucks, and being a desk clerk (dealing with people, handling money, basic customer service) serves well as a stepping stone to another, better job. Trouble is, most people don't realize that using this business as a stepping stone means you have to actually deal with this business, and most people can't handle it.

How are you?

People need to think before they take a job. They also need to learn the concept of giving notice.

I have been doing a lot of writing lately. That's about it.

How are you?

I'm okay. Headachey today. Tired, too. But that's all right 'cause I need to take a nap. (I work 11pm to 7am tonight.)

I am sorry you have a headache. That schedule of yours sounds brutal.
